How it works

How buying works.

  1. Know your budget

The full monthly cost worked out before you look, not only the price.

  2. See the right homes

Homes in Charleston that fit, with an honest opinion on each one.

  3. Make the offer

Priced from what similar homes sold for, and explained before you sign.

  4. Inspection to keys

Inspection, appraisal, walkthrough and closing, with Bev keeping track of every date.

Testimonials

From a buyer.

Bev was the perfect combination of being attentive to our wishes (explicitly expressed and otherwise), and being sure he covered the limits of the current market. At each showing he would listen to and observe our reactions and shape future suggestions based on them. He pointed out both good features and concerns that we might otherwise have missed. He did not steer us only to the high end of our price range. He was as ready to show us a low priced house as a high priced house if he thought it might meet our needs. In the end Bev helped us find the "right" house for us at an attractive price. He used his extensive contacts to help us in every aspect of the purchase - from financing to improvements we chose to make. He listened respectfully to our thoughts and was never pushy. I believe he has the right sense of when to offer his professional opinion and when to leave the discussion to his clients. I would strongly recommend Bev to anyone looking for a home.

Questions

What buyers ask.

How much do I need for a down payment?

Some loans need very little down and others need more. A lender can tell you what you qualify for, and Bev can put you in touch with one.

How long does it take to buy a home?

Finding the right home is the part nobody can time. Once your offer is accepted, closing usually takes several weeks with a mortgage and less with cash.

Do I pay the agent who helps me buy?

Sometimes the seller pays it and sometimes the buyer does. Bev explains the fee, and who is expected to pay it, before you sign anything.

What are closing costs?

They are the fees due when the sale closes, such as lender fees, title work and insurance. Your lender gives you a written estimate early, so there are no surprises.

Should I get pre-approved first?

Yes, if you are getting a mortgage. A pre-approval tells you what you can spend, and sellers take your offer more seriously with one.
